Alejandra Dozal, LPC

As a client-centered psychotherapist, my primary commitment is to create a space where you can safely experience yourself—all of it, every single part of it, while I hold the space with you.

Therapy is an active, human partnership rooted in deep acceptance, radical empathy, and absolute genuineness. I operate from a firm belief that you already possess a remarkable capacity for self-healing and personal growth; my role is to provide the secure environment where that exploration can safely unfold.

My work bridges rigorous clinical expertise with a grounded, holistic perspective. I don't look at you as a set of symptoms to fix. Instead, I look at the whole picture—honoring your unique culture, untangling family-of-origin dynamics, and helping you navigate the heavy, complex transitions of life with personal authority.

When I am not collaborating with clients in their healing journeys, I am an active fiber artist who spends time at home creating handmade textiles. My life and my practice are grounded in the same philosophy: honoring and understanding the raw fiber, embracing the organic process of growth, and just like in the therapeutic process, weaving the scattered pieces together to create a whole new tapestry.

My Credentials and Approach

Foundations & Grounding

Theory alone is inadequate; in fact theory without technique is merely a philosophy, and technique without integrating all the 'levels of the body' is neglect." I don't just treat minds; I work with the whole human. That means grounding clinical training in nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, and the wisdom of the body.

I believe that effective therapy requires a balance: solid, evidence-based training to ensure safety, and a warm, intuitive presence to allow for true transformation. My formal education, licenses, and years in the field are the roots that support the deeper, holistic work we do together today.

The Clinical Roots

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) | Texas State Board (#71832)

  • Master of Education in Guidance & Counseling

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology

  • Associate of Art in Criminal Justice

The Evolving Path (Holistic & Expressive Modalities)

Traditional talk therapy is only one piece of the puzzle. Over the last decade, I have intentionally expanded my practice into somatic, experiential, and expressive arts because true healing requires bringing the whole self into the room.

  • Expressive & Play-Based Roots: Years of dedicated practice as a Registered Play Therapist utilizing Sandtray therapy and spontaneous art to help make the internal external.

  • Trauma & Nervous System Regulation: Advanced training in EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Sensorimotor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART).

  • Multicultural Wellness: Deeply committed to community wellness, certified in Capacitar multicultural wellness practices, and fully bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural.
